Today, we will learn about the tradition and history of the Sacred Valley, the traces left by its ancient inhabitants, and the culture of its current towns. Beginning at the Raqchi viewpoint, we will have a spectacular view of the valley before going down to explore it. From the top, we will have a majestic view of the ancient Maras salt mines, where the coveted Maras salt - one of the finest in the world - is collected. We will see almost 3,000 pools that in Inca times were an important center for the imperial economy. Today, it continues to be a valuable source of income for hundreds of families. With stunning panoramic views of the mosaic of terraces and ponds, Maras offers the perfect setting for photography enthusiasts. We will also arrive at the Moray archaeological site, which resembles a natural amphitheater. During the Tahuantinsuyo, it functioned as a laboratory and agricultural research center, according to some studies. Its enormous concentric terraces and the variety of microclimates they created allowed the growth of a variety of crops. We will continue to Ollantaytambo, an ancient military, religious, and agricultural center of the Incas. Strategically located on a mountain, its imposing fortress is a sample of all the Inca power. We will visit the main temple, terraces, and fountains, while we enjoy an unbeatable view of the town, the only one that maintains the original Inca urban design and which we can also visit to see its stone streets, its market and breathe the spirit of the Andes.

Lunch at Iskay Maras Home which is surrounded by an impressive landscape of high mountains and green fields; its strategic location makes it an ideal place for passengers visiting Maras, Moray and Chinchero. Attention is only available with a prior reservation, and behind closed doors, this is why it does not have signs on the facade or information on the Internet, which makes it an exclusive environment.

Here, visitors can enjoy a set menu, which varies according to the season, the requirements or food restrictions of each of the guests. The ingredients come from a field of cultivation and an organic bio-garden located within the premises of the house to guarantee a unique culinary experience.Overnight at Sol y Luna Hotel (Superior Casita Room).

The Sumaq’s hotel chefs Carlos Pardo Figueroa and Ribelino Alegría are great connoisseurs of the flavors that are hidden by the Apus (mountains); they have rescued many of the fruits of the land that had been forgotten by the Peruvian tables for centuries. Thanks to their work promoting crops in high Andean communities located at more than 12,139 feet and to the research of new products that are fused with contemporary culinary techniques, they’ve given birth to the tasting menu, Flavors of the Andes: Apucc Mikhuna (which in Quechua means the food that the mountains bring us).

The tasting menu, flavors of the Andes: Apucc Mikhuna, revels in an exquisite and rich list of native ingredients that have originality and history. It is a high level gastronomic trip in which more than 35 ingredients coming from sustainable communities located within 50 kilometers surrounding the hotel, merge together.

Day 8 - 2025: Cusco

Private | Workshop Cusco art and coffee tasting.

Let's discover part of the essence of Cusco through art! We will begin this experience by learning about local art and the syncretism around it, where Andean and Spanish cultures converge. We will focus on one of the most popular pieces: the Torito de Pucara (or Pucara bull). We will learn its importance and what it represents for the Andean communities. We will also dive into the Peruvian coffee universe and understand why it is one of the best in the world. With all this information, it's time to get down to work! We will receive a blank Torito and all the materials to decorate it as we like while we enjoy a delicious cocktail based on local coffee. While we paint, expert artists will guide us in the technique of Cusquenian colonial gilding, and we will work with metal sheets to give a unique touch to our work of art. After the experience, we can take our Torito home as a very special souvenir of our stay in Peru.

  1. Private | Half Day City tour Cusco on foot.

This charming half-day walking tour of Cusco offers history, culture and art. The Main Square is a must, where we will see the colonial architecture that remains intact to this day, but its history is much older since it used as foundations the walls of Inca enclosures. Also located in the square is the Cathedral, the most important temple in the city. It was built by the Spanish on top of the palace of the Inca Huiracoha. Its interior houses a wonderful collection of colonial art composed of goldsmith pieces and representative canvases of the Cusco School. Within walking distance is the Koricancha, which during the Tahuantinsuyo was a center of worship to the Sun and on which later the convent of Santo Domingo was built as part of the evangelization process. Its baroque facade built on the solid Inca walls perfectly summarizes the syncretism of cultures in Cusco. The route will take us uphill through beautiful narrow streets to San Blas, the city's bohemian neighborhood par excellence, known for being home to local artists' craft workshops. It's the perfect place to shop and take something special of this magical city with us!
