Oman's Golden Deserts
Our Oman experts on site

Together with our DMC partner in Oman, Khimji's House of Travel Lufthansa City Center, we invited travel content creator Lauren Carey from the Netherlands on a 5-day journey through the land of golden deserts. Our experts on site curated a blend of breathtaking landscapes, rich heritage, and authentic experiences. From the grand mosques and bustling souqs of Muscat to the dramatic peaks of Jabal Akhdar and the golden dunes of Wahiba Sands, every stop is a story waiting to be told. This is what Lauren did.

Day 1: Arrival in Muscat

  • Arrive at Muscat International Airport

  • Meet & Greet by our representative

  • Transfer to hotel
    Overnight in Muscat

 

Day 2: Full-Day Muscat City Tour

  • Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque – Iconic architecture, Persian carpet, chandeliers

  • Royal Opera House – A cultural landmark

  • Al Alam Palace – Ceremonial palace flanked by Al Jalali & Al Mirani forts

  • Bait Al Zubair Museum – Omani heritage exhibits

  • Mutrah Souq – Shop for spices, silver, and local crafts

 

Day 3: Muscat – Jabal Akhdar – Nizwa

  • Drive to Jabal Akhdar ("Green Mountain")

    • Visit Saiq Plateau, terraced farms, rosewater distilleries

    • Photo stop at Diana’s Point

  • Continue to Nizwa

    • Explore Nizwa Fort and Souq for pottery, silver, and dates
      Overnight in Nizwa

Day 4: Nizwa – Wadi Bani Khalid – Wahiba Sands

  • Visit Wadi Bani Khalid – Swim in turquoise pools, hike the oasis

  • Afternoon at Wahiba Sands

    • Dune bashing, camel rides, and sandboarding

    • Traditional dinner at desert camp, stargazing
      Overnight in Desert Camp (Wahiba Sands)

 

Day 5: Wahiba Sands – Coastal Drive to Muscat – Departure

  • Sunrise over the dunes

  • Return to Muscat via scenic coastal route

    • Stop at Sur dhow shipyard

    • Visit Bimmah Sinkhole, Fins Beach, and Wadi Dayqah Dam

  • Drop-off at Muscat International Airport
    End of Tour
