This 6-day community-based tour in Armenia immerses you in local life through village stays, traditional food experiences, cultural workshops, and guided visits to historic sites and natural wonders, all while supporting local families and artisans.
Day 1 – Arrival in Yerevan
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Time permitting, enjoy a guided walking tour of Yerevan’s vibrant streets. Savor traditional Armenian dishes with live carpet-weaving demos at Mamik Guest House or Megerian Carpet Restaurant. Overnight in a centrally located Yerevan hotel.
Day 2 – Khor Virap, Areni Wine Route, and Gnishik
After breakfast, visit Khor Virap Monastery with views of Mount Ararat. Continue to Areni village, renowned for its 6,000-year-old winemaking heritage. At Momik Winery, enjoy a wine-tasting lunch supporting a community project. Overnight at Gnishik Guest House. Optional: hiking, horseback riding, or jeep tours in Gnishik Canyon.
Day 3 – Noravank, Kechut, and Aghitu
Breakfast at the guest house, then explore 13th-century Noravank Monastery set in red cliffs. Stop at Kechut Reservoir for views, hike to Shaki Waterfall, one of Armenia’s natural gems. Overnight in Aghitu village with a home-cooked dinner from local farm ingredients.
Day 4 – Culinary Experience and Nature
After breakfast, join a hands-on cooking class preparing traditional dishes like Jengyalov Hac and Qyalagyosh. In the afternoon, go on a seasonal foraging trip with villagers to gather wild mushrooms or herbs. Overnight at the guest house.
Day 5 – Tatev and Goris Experience
Travel to Tatev Monastery via the Wings of Tatev cable car, the world’s longest reversible cableway. Explore Tatev, visit Satan’s Bridge, and cross Khndzoresk Suspension Bridge to see ancient cave dwellings. Arrive in Goris for overnight at Hayi Tun Guest House. Seasonal festivals may include the Mulberry Festival, Traditional Costume Display, or Agricultural Products Festival.
Day 6 – Return to Yerevan and Departure
Return to Yerevan after breakfast. Time permitting, visit GUM market for local treats or Vernissage market for Armenian crafts. Transfer to the airport for departure.
