DAY 1 – 2

You arrive in Victoria Falls and spend time admiring the spectacular waterfalls as well as the local craft markets. Here traditions and storytelling reflect the significance of the Zambezi River.

DAY 3 – 4

Crossing into Botswana at Kasane, the influence of Tswana traditions becomes visible in village life, crafts, and storytelling. Here you collect your vehicle and your self-drive adventure begins! Your stay along the Chobe River front offers the chance to explore the river with its wildlife and enjoy a sunset cruise. On a guided village tour, guests are immersed in local traditions and culture.

DAY 5 – 6

Today you travel across the border into Namibia and to the Kwando River area. Passing through Bwabwata National Park, the cultures of the Caprivi—especially river-based communities—are expressed through basketry, music, and fishing traditions. Spectacular wildlife sightings and bird spotting abounds.

DAY 7

During your drive to Divundu you encounter a rich blend of Namibian cultures, including Mafwe and Hambukushu communities, expressed through basket weaving, music, and river-based lifestyles.

DAY 8 – 9

Your drive today shifts with the landscape as it changes from woodland to lush riverine vegetation as you follow the path of the Kavango River, crossing the border back into Botswana. Near Shakawe and the Okavango Delta, artistry is intertwined with nature—mokoro (dugout canoe) craftsmanship, intricate textiles, and oral traditions reflect a deep spiritual connection to the land and water. At nearby Tsodilo Hills, ancient San rock art—one of Africa’s most important cultural treasures—connects you to thousands of years of human creativity and belief.

DAY 10

Today you have the opportunity to meet Milton in Maun – this local rasta legend is the friendly face that greets many a traveller admiring his local art works. From beadwork, wood carvings, basket crafts to local art there is something for everyone to take a piece of Botswana home. Milton enjoys meeting different people from all over the world and sharing his stories with them. He is a creative who works with local artists including those from Namibia and Zimbabwe. He has been given the name of ‘Give Thanks’ as it is something he reminds all his customers of. You will find Milton based at ‘The Duck Cafe’ in Maun, directly across from the airport. For an authentic experience take an immersive tour with a local guide to explore the art, crafts, customs as well as traditions in Maun and maybe try your skills at creating your own unique souvenir.
