From Urban Elegance to Mountain Wilderness

This journey showcases the contrast between timeless traditions and modern Scandinavian life, as well as landscapes that range from vibrant urban settings and gentle lake districts to vast forests and dramatic mountain scenery.

Day 1: Welcome to Stockholm!

Stockholm offers a wealth of museums, theatres, attractions and events, whether your interest lies in history, art, opera, modern dance, traditional handicraft, contemporary design and much more. After a transfer from the airport, check in and settle down in a central hotel, booked for 3 nights.

Day 2: Stockholm

Well-preserved medieval buildings stand alongside modern architecture. During a guided tour you will visit the City Hall, where the Nobel Prize Dinner is served and the ABBA Museum. In the afternoon, slow down and relax at the hotel’s Spa.

Day 3: Stockholm

Join your guide for a tour of the underground. Stockholm’s subway system is the longest art gallery in the world. With over 90 art creations, the Subway is a reflection of Swedish art and cultural evolution. Travelling with the subway for approximately 6-7 stations, at each stop the travellers will be briefed about the history of the Station. The afternoon is free for exploring and shopping.

Day 4: Stockholm to Mora

Departure by coach to Mora, a picturesque town located by Lake Siljan. Known for its artistic and cultural heritage, Mora offers a peaceful atmosphere in contrast to the capital. On the way, stop at the workshop for the iconic hand painted Dalecarlian horse, see a demonstration of sawing and carving, dipping the horse in basic colour and a demonstration of the beautiful decoration painting. Accommodation is arranged in a centrally located hotel in Mora for 1 night.

Day 5: Mora to Östersund

After breakfast, visit Zorngården. Beautifully situated on the shore of Lake Siljan, Sweden’s finest collection of historical timber buildings, some 40 in all, including Sweden’s oldest secular timber building, dating from 1237. Then it is time to experience a leg of the scenic Inland railway. Onboard the train you will find knowledgeable guides providing information as to everything that passes by outside the train’s windows. The train will slow down as you pass the waterfalls Storstupet and Helvetesfallet. Accommodation for two nights is provided in a centrally located hotel in Östersund.

Day 6: Östersund

Start off your day by visiting the open-air museum Jamtli. In the cultural – historical environments from 1785 to 1975 you meet people from a different time our own and they are happy to tell you about their work, everyday life and dreams. In the afternoon we will do a trail where you get the chance to get a close-up with the king of the forest. During this tour you will learn interesting, as well as funny, facts about the moose and its habitat.

Day 7: Östersund to Storlien

Today, you leave Östersund to head towards the western border of Sweden. On the way you get to pet and feed the reindeer right from the hand! You will be told all there is to know about reindeer, how they live and why they look like they do. We’ll have hot chocolate and fresh coffee made on the fire and have a Swedish fika with delicious pastry. You can also try lassoing! You will get an introduction to Sàmi culture and a traditional handicraft workshop. Discover the rich traditions of Sámi and Jämtland folk craft first-hand. 1 night Accommodation in a central hotel in Storlien.

Day 8: Storlien to Trondheim

Today, you will experience the mountains from horseback (half-day tour) in our neighbouring country, Norway. You will receive and introduction and will be guided by people who have local knowledge and care about nature, the mountains and the guest. The guide knows the area, knows the stories and has learned to know nature. A lunch stop will be made in the mountains to cook over the campfire, with good ingredients from the surrounding area. In the afternoon you will reach Trondheim and check in at a centrally located hotel for your last night.

Day 9: Departure

Enjoy one last breakfast before heading off according to individual travel plans. Trondheim airport offers good connections for the trip home.
