Here, we will surprise you with a reenactment of the fascinating story of Viceroy Amat and La Perricholi. Then, we will head to the Plaza de Armas, the heart of the historic center, surrounded by iconic buildings such as the Government Palace and the Cathedral.

Day 19 – Cusco – Puno

We will start the excursion in the direction of Tipon, an Inca archaeological complex where water flows through extensive carved stone canals. There you will appreciate the amazing knowledge of hydraulic engineering used by the Incas. Then, we will continue to Hanaq Wasi to learn about Andean culture in three experiential workshops: Paucartambo mask painting and bakery. You will continue the tour to Andahuaylillas, home to a beautiful 16th century church with an impressive organ decorated with angels and cherubs. Our last visit will be The Church of San Juan Bautista of Huaro, this church bears similarities to the Sistine Chapel of America, as it is also adorned with religious-themed murals whose purpose was indoctrination.
➢ According to Inca mythology, Lake Titicaca is the birthplace of the Inca Empire. It is believed that the first Incas, Manco Cápac and Mama Ocllo, emerged from its waters, sent by the Sun god (Inti) to establish the empire and civilize its people. Upon arriving at the Titilaka Lodge, a shaman will welcome us and purify our spirit with Aymara mantras and incense. Then, we will relax while watching the sunset.

Although they initially sought refuge on the islands, the inhabitants never left. Since then, they have developed a subculture of the Aymara people in one of the world's most intriguing environments. This is a unique opportunity to personally meet the men, skilled reed raft navigators, and the women, expert weavers famous for their craftsmanship, as well as to learn about the ancestral techniques that keep their islands afloat, among other aspects of their remarkable heritage. In Taquile, for example, we will experience the Quechua imagination in the unique textiles of the area, recently included in UNESCO's list of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. At night, we will take part in an astronomical observation in the lodge garden. Our guide will explain the movement of stars and help us locate constellations such as Wawawara Hawira, or the Milky Way, while we listen to legends and stories passed down through generations from ancient times to the present day.
