Rovos Rail South Africa: From Durban via Pretoria to Cape Town

Days 1–2: Durban

Begin on Durban's Indian Ocean coastline with a relaxing stay at Sala Beach House before boarding the legendary Rovos Rail.

Days 3–4: Rovos Rail: Durban – Pretoria

Travel through the lush Valley of a Thousand Hills into the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, visiting the renowned Ardmore Ceramics Gallery. Continue via the historic Spionkop battlefield or a game drive in Nambiti Private Game Reserve. Enjoy refined dining and ever-changing scenery as the train winds north to Pretoria.

Days 5–6: Pretoria

Visit Rovos Rail's private station and museum on arrival/departure for a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the workshops, restored locomotives and carriages and explore Pretoria on a guided city tour with lunch.

Days 7–9: Rovos Rail: Pretoria – Cape Town

Board Rovos Rail once more, crossing the Highveld to Kimberley for a visit to the famous Big Hole before traversing the vast Karoo. Pause in the historic village of Matjiesfontein before descending through spectacular mountain scenery into Cape Town.

Days 10–11: Cape Town

Conclude your journey with two nights at Steenberg Hotel in the Constantia Winelands.
