Day 1: Arrival: Negombo: Coast & Colonial Echoes

Arrive and transfer to Negombo, a lively coastal town shaped by fishing, the lagoon and strong Catholic heritage. Relax, then explore a fishing village, Dutch Fort, Hamilton Canal, St. Mary’s Church, Old Dutch Cemetery and the vibrant Fish Market (Lellama).

Overnight: Goldi Sands Hotel, Negombo

Day 2: Kalpitiya: Lagoon Life & Coastal Landscapes

Travel north to the Kalpitiya Peninsula. Discover fishing communities, lagoons, mangroves, coconut plantations and salt pans. Visit Talawila St. Anne’s Church, the Fisheries Harbour, a fishing village and Dutch Fort. Experience a quieter, nature led side of Sri Lanka.

Overnight: Carolina Hotel, Chilaw

Day 3: Jaffna: Coastal Life to Northern Heritage

Travel via Puttalam, crossing the Sangupiddy Bridge. Stop at the restored Dutch Fort at Pooneryn. Arrive in Jaffna, where Tamil traditions, Hindu heritage and colonial influences create a distinctive identity. The region also reflects Sri Lanka’s recent history.

Day 4: Jaffna: Living Tamil Heritage

Explore Naguleshwaram Hindu Temple and Keerimalai, Selva Sannidhi Temple, Vallipuram Alvar Vishnu Temple, Kandarodai Buddhist ruins, Puttur’s Endless Well and Casuarina Beach. Continue to Jaffna Fort, the Public Library and Nallur Kandaswamy Temple. Hindu and Buddhist heritage, colonial history, beaches and contemporary life create a day of contrasts.

Day 5: Anuradhapura: Northern Present, Ancient Kingdom

Leave for Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first great capital. Visit Isurumuniya, Sri Maha Bodhi, Ruwanweliseya, Jetavanaramaya, Abhayagiriya, Twin Ponds, Eth Pokuna, Thuparamaya and the Samadhi Statue. Living devotion meets the monumental remains of an ancient civilisation.

Overnight: Lake Forest Hotel, Anuradhapura

Day 6: Sigiriya & Dambulla: Kingdoms in Stone

Travel to Sigiriya and climb the celebrated fifth century Rock Fortress and its landscaped gardens. See the frescoes, Mirror Wall and Lion’s Paw. Continue to Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO listed complex of five caves filled with Buddha images and centuries of religious art. Ancient engineering and living spirituality meet. 

Overnight: Rangiri Dambulla Resort, Dambulla

Day 7: Kandy: Royal Traditions, Living Culture

Travel to Kandy, the last royal capital and a UNESCO World Heritage city. Visit a spice garden, enjoy Upper Lake Drive and a gem museum. In the evening, experience a Kandyan cultural performance before visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a major Buddhist pilgrimage site.

Day 8: Nuwara Eliya: Royal City to Tea Country

Travel into the cool central highlands. Visit a tea plantation and factory to see how Ceylon Tea is produced and enjoy a freshly brewed cup. Continue to Nuwara Eliya, the “Little England” of Sri Lanka, where colonial character and tea country life contrast with the tropical lowlands.

Overnight: Araliya Green Hills, Nuwara Eliya

Day 9: Horton Plains & Ella: Wilderness & Mountains

Visit Horton Plains National Park, part of the UNESCO listed Central Highlands. Enjoy its high altitude grasslands and cloud forest, with the trail towards World’s End, subject to weather and park conditions. Continue to Ella through mountain scenery and tea country.

Overnight: La Ella Breeze Hotel, Ella

Day 10: Colombo: Mountain Quiet to Urban Energy

Travel to Colombo as the landscape changes from misty mountains to Sri Lanka’s commercial capital. Enjoy leisure time or explore Colombo’s shopping, dining and waterfront, depending on arrival time.

Overnight: Grandbell Hotel, Colombo

Day 11: Colombo & Departure: Old Meets New

Depending on flight time, undertake a Colombo city tour combining colonial landmarks, commercial districts, religious sites, modern developments and the waterfront. The journey ends where old and new Sri Lanka meet. Transfer to the airport for departure.
