The Town is dotted with several churches, some dating from the earliest colonial times. Sightseeing in Negombo includes the remains of the Old Dutch Fortress from 1678, the Dutch Canal constructed for the transportation of Cinnamon, St. Mary’s Church and the Old Dutch Cemetery, and naturally, the Negombo Fish Market –more famously known as the “Lellama”.

This unique Rock Fortress or "castle in the sky" - a massive monolith of red stone that rises 600ft above ground , derived the name "Lion Rock" as the entrance to the climb to the summit is reached between the paws of a lion.

The emphasis is on presence, silence, and awareness of ancient space, rather than reaching the top quickly.

Evening is reserved for stillness and preparation for the sacred mountain experience linked to Adam's Peak (Sri Pada tradition)….. ….(Sinhalese Samanala), mountain, in central Sri Lanka, east of Colombo. The 2,243-m (7,360-ft) summit contains a depression about 1.5 m (5 ft) long by about 76 cm (30 in) wide that is shaped like a human footprint. The origin of the footprint is explained in various ways depending on religious and cultural tradition. To Buddhists the foot like depression is the sacred footmark left by Lord Buddha placed during one of his three visits to Sri Lanka; to Hindus it is the footprint of the God Shiva. According to Muslim tradition, the summit was the scene of the penance of Adam (after his expulsion from Paradise), during which he stood on one foot for a thousand years.
Have dinner and relax until close to mid night. Start the climb to the summit to watch the spectacular "Sunrise” from the top early in the morning
