Individual Bicycle Tour in Sri Lanka
Day 01
Arrival, welcome by a representative of Lanka Sportreizen and transfer to Hotel.
Test runs for the Bikes in readiness for the tour.
Overnight stay at Negombo


Day 02
After breakfast transfer for about 5 km by vehicle.
Then start biking- the route will be through untarred roads and village level undeveloped roads passing through Tile/Brick Kilns, Coir Factories, Coconut /Rubber Estates, Pineapple Plantations, mainly on flat land and occasionally on hilly areas. (Distance about 65 -70 km)
Visit the Elephant Orphanage to see the world's largest herd of domestic elephants including babies who are still being fed by bottle thrice a day.
Overnight stay at Pinnawala


Day 03
After breakfast start biking towards Sigiriya. (Distance about 80 - 85 km)
Route will be through vast Coconut Estates, Paddy Fields with the vegetation changing gradually from the wet zone to the dry zone, Shifting Cultivation (traditional form of "slash and burn cultivation") along cart tracks, undeveloped trails, a small distance on developed roads. Load as you approach Dambulla but those who are desirous can continue. En route visit the Dambulla Cave Temple considered being the largest painted caves in the world with more than 22,000 sq ft of painted surfaces with many paintings, sculptures, statues of Lord Buddha, his disciples, Kings, Gods etc.

Day 04
Early morning climb the Rock Fortress of Sigiriya, a World Heritage Site
After late breakfast leave for Giritale.
The route will be muddy tracks, paved roads, occasional tarred roads, dry zone jungles, Teak Plantations, Paddy Fields .This will be entirely on flat land.

Day 05
After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa - the Medieval Capital of Sri Lanka - 11th Century AD The route will be as the same as of previous day.
In Polonnaruwa, visit the historical monuments scattered in the ancient city area by cycle in the process traveling along the dam of the huge "Parakrama Samudra - the Sea of
Parakarama”, by vehicle
Overnight stay at Giritale


Day 06
After breakfast leave for Kandy - “The Hill Capital” via the off the beaten track route passing agricultural areas in Elahera and Bakamoona , in the eastern slopes of the Knuckles Range of Mountains passing Riverstone - an amazing creation of mother nature - a cooler climate of fantastic proportions with in a dry zone climate.
As the distance is going to be long, they can pack up whenever they desire.
Walk into a Spice Garden and take part in a conducted tour to get some knowledge about the growth and use of spices in the day-to-day life.
In the evening watch a Cultural Performance by traditional Kandyan Dancers and Drummers including devotional” Fire Walking" and walk across in the star lit night to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha - by far the most important place of worship for Buddhist’s world over.

Day 07
After breakfast leave for a  City Tour including the Upper Lake Drive - a place where one could have a bird's eye view of the city below, the Royal Botanical Gardens - one of the best of its kind in Asia with more than 5000 species of different varieties of flora which incidentally was the Headquarters of Lord Louise Mountbatten - the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces during the 2nd World War, a Gem Museum - to see how the valuable gems that you see on a shop shelf are turned out from a raw stone with the back ground history.
Leave towards Gampola

Day 08
After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya – “Little England”
The route will be surrounded by hills covered with tea, terraced paddy fields, remote villages etc amidst breathtakingly beautiful landscapes.
Pick up from Ramboda and transfer to Bandarawela by vehicle.
Visit a Tea Factory and a Plantation to witness the manufacturing process of world famous "Ceylon Tea" and to taste a pure unblended cup of factory fresh tea before being sent to the Tea Auctions in Colombo leading to export.

Day 09
After breakfast start biking to Uda Walawe via Beragala with picturesque landscapes of the hill country in the background. Undertake a Jeep Safari of the Uda Walawe National Park mainly to see wild elephants. Route will be on hilly areas - on very good tarred roads but with less traffic for most of the time

Day 10
After breakfast transfer to Koggala
Relax on the Beach
Overnight at Koggala


Day 11
After breakfast leave for Bentota
En route visit the Galle Dutch Fortress – a World Heritage Site, a Mask Museum at
Ambalangoda, Turtle Hatchery etc.
Overnight stay at Bentota


Day 12
Relax / Undertake a Boat Cruise in the backwaters through mangroves to enjoy nature, life styles etc.
Overnight stay at Bentota


Day 13
Transfer to the airport for departure
