Itinerary
DAY 1
Arrival in Bologna Airport and transfer to reach the part of our Region called ROMAGNA. You can also add this 5 days in Romagna after our 5 days tour in Bologna. In the afternoon your first stop will be the ancient town of DOZZA Dozza is a medieval village, nominated as one of the "Most beautiful villages in Italy" (Borghi Più Belli d’Italia) by the club of the same name. its historical centre has the classic shape of a spindle: to this day the village’s medieval urban layout is unchanged, with the highest point dominated by the imposing Rocca. Dozza is known as an open-air museum where hundreds of works by prestigious contemporary artists adorn the town’s walls. What was once the dungeon of the Rocca is now the Regional Wine Cellar (Enoteca Regionale). More than 800 select wines from the Emilia Romagna Region are displayed for study or purchase. A guided tour of this unique village, its impressive Rocca and final tasting of local wine in the Enoteca. After the visit departure to reach Faenza. Accommodation in hotel. DAY 2
After breakfast guided tour of FAENZA to discover the main monuments of the historical centre, and the International Museum of Ceramics: the culture of ceramics spanning five continents and many centuries is documented in these rooms, which contain the largest collection in the world dedicated to ceramics. Lunch in a typical restaurant. After lunch guided visit to a typical Faenza ceramic laboratory where You can see ceramists at work, to find out more about this technique, the different styles, shapes and decorations. representing all the types of tiles.. DAY 3
Breakfast at the Hotel. After breakfast, transfer to Casola Valsenio for a tour of the Herb Garden, dedicated to the conservation and growing of plants of special medicinal and aromatic interest that includes over 480 species of wild plants, used since the late Middle Ages. The garden is located on a small terrace overlooking the wonderful Senio valley. Lunch in a typical restaurant. After lunch, transfer to Brisighella, where we will begin our guided tour discovering this village lost in a natural and still untouched scenery. After a short walk through the streets of the Medieval Centre, the tour continues with an Oil tasting: different types of olive oil, served with some traditional cheeses, jam, honey and wines of this territory. Between October/November it is also possible to see an olive-press working. Back to Faenza. Dinner on your own. Overnight in hotel.
DAY 4
After breakfast, in about 1h30 you’ll reach SAN MARINO UNESCO World Heritage, San Marino is an exceptional testimony to a living cultural tradition that has lasted for 700 years. The smallest a nd oldest republic in the world founded in 1243 and still a symbol of democracy. Arrival and meet the guide for 1 hour visit of the ancient town At the end time at disposal for shopping or leisure activities. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon transfer to Ravenna for the guided tour of Dante Alighieri’s Tomb and some of the extraordinary early Christian and Byzantine religious buildings of the city (5 th -6 th centuries AD), included by UNESCO on the World Heritage List. Let yourself be astonished by the outstanding mosaics that will feast your eyes on the gold! Late in the afternoon back to the hotel in Faenza. Dinner to taste the “piadina romagnola” a typical Romagna dish. Overnight.
