The waters around Muscat are teeming with wildlife – from green and leatherback turtles to massive schools of baitfish, the big fish that chase them, as well as dolphins.

Encounter dolphins, as they mass in their hundreds chasing local sardines and other treats.

Few people expect Muscat to be a dolphin-watching centre, but it is estimated that 11 different species make the waters of Oman their home. Getting out on the water and watching for pods of these playful and curious mammals is one of the very finest things you can do here.

Depending on the season, many operators will seek out humpbacks and sperm whales and even ope for a rare glimpse of killer whales.
