Greece is not only the Islands. April in Athens, during the Easter period, is the ideal choice and many options can create an unforgettable experience.
Spending a few days in the Capital of Greece you must “walk like a Greek’’. You can visit the heart of the town and travel through history from Acropolis and the ancient town of Plaka to Kolonaki, the most modern part of the city with the famous brands, boutiques and restaurants.
Walking down the pedestrian Voukourestiou street you arrive in “Syntagma”, the famous constitution square where you can admire the Greek Presidential Gard. Just 200 m. away from Syntagma you can find the famous “Agia Irini Square” right in the heart of Athens and one of the hottest spots in town. Easy to approach no matter where you're coming from, yet self-contained and peaceful, with no bothersome thru-traffic, the square thrives with life most hours of the day.
Around the “Agia Irini” Orthodox church you can feel the beat of the Town. Retail shops, bookstores, coffee-shops, eateries, street vendors and musicians, bars with international awards, meeting places, a plant nursery, plenty of Greek tavernas and International restaurants, some of the best souvlaki spots in town for a gourmet version of the Greek specialty and picturesque spots with Greek gourmet cuisine are some options.
In recent months, the square is undergoing major renovation projects, amazing terraces overlooking Acropolis, new boutique hotels, apartments, showrooms and galleries. Just few meters away from the square you can explore the ‘’Monastiraki flea market’’ for fun and shopping.
