Name of Tour: ½ Day Robben Island Tour (Perhaps have a lovely lunch at the Waterfront after the tour)
Duration: 4 hours 30 minutes
For nearly 400 years, Robben Island, 12 kilometres from Cape Town, was a place of banishment, exile, isolation and imprisonment. It was here that rulers sent those they regarded as political troublemakers, social outcasts and the unwanted of society. During the apartheid years Robben Island became internationally known for its institutional brutality. Those imprisoned on the Island succeeded on a psychological and political level in turning a prison 'hell-hole' into a symbol of freedom and personal liberation. Robben Island came to symbolize, not only for South Africa and the African continent, but also for the entire world, the triumph of the human spirit over enormous hardship and adversity. Here you will have the possibility to interact with an ex-political prisoner.

A fresh and unique lifestyle offering of this new and exciting development. We'll have time to stop at Museum Africa is Johannesburg’s premier cultural history museum; reminiscent of a 1950’s shebeen or pub, and its here you’ll really sense the soul of the inner city. We return to your hotel via the flipside of the coin, the lush, up market suburb of lower Houghton. A city of contrasts, that’s for certain.

We pass Mandela House, and give you time to visit this fascinating little museum (own account). Our journey continues to Regina Mundi Church, site of many secret underground meetings of the then banned political parties. Finally, we take you past the largest stadium in Africa with a seating capacity of almost 95,000. Construction of the stadium commenced in 2007. Soccer City, also known as the Calabash was host of the 2010 FIFA World Cup opening and final matches.
